My work acts to dissolve and rearrange the boundaries between media and artist. Through oil painting and sculpture I investigate the attack, or call to action, that is wired in our engagement with dominant culture. With imagery culled from news sources, search engines and personal documents, I intend for the viewer to be confronted with an awkward relationship that is familiar but distant and reflective of the ubiquitous false-celebrity of social networking internet sites. Whether calm and in anticipation or heavily layered and disparate, my work often investigates a density of incongruent cultural forms and the way these forms image the world. Through a push and pull, resolve and dissolve I aim to fill the void of the obscure that often marks the brutality of the everyday.
